About us
The Agricultural Economics and Consumer Behaviour Lab serves the educational and research needs of the Department of Agriculture Crop Production and Rural Environment, University of Thessaly.
Our work focuses on optimising input-use efficiency at local and national level, in line with CAP 2023-2027 objectives, integrating economic, environmental and social dimensions. We also evaluate the efficiency of Decision Making Units on multi-year panels and propose tailored policy measures per case study.
In consumer research, we clarify attitudes prior to final purchase decisions through national and international field surveys, identify the factors driving consumer choices, link them to demographics to define target groups, and assess willingness to pay for premium product characteristics.
Research areas
What we do
Four pillars, one goal: efficient and sustainable agri-food systems.
Optimisation
Using DEA, SFA and TOPSIS, we identify the best performers of any system and provide targeted feedback to the less efficient ones.
Consumer Behaviour
We build strategies based on consumer attitudes towards agricultural products and practices, and measure willingness to pay for premium characteristics.
Living Labs
We establish and run Living Labs through a five-step methodology: territorial diagnosis, memorandum of collaboration, tool testing, experimentation and literacy.
Innovative Technologies
We support technology adoption through participatory approaches: sensors, tailored platforms and dedicated infographics for industry.
