About the project
The system covers both internal traceability inside firms, linking the identity of each batch to packages, boxes and pallets, and external traceability across the supply chain, extending to organic-waste and biomass recycling under a circular-economy logic. It is fully GS1-compliant and uses RFID, LoRaWAN and Bluetooth beacons to trace produce down to the commercial unit, through an IoT application and event-capturing platform with twelve deployable software products and open, XML-based interoperability.
The Lab took part in AgroTRACE through the Institute for Bio-Economy and Agri-Technology of CERTH, contributing the economic and market dimension of the system.
