On September 6th, 2024, in the city of Trani in Italy, was conducted the official launch of the Italian Living Lab. During the event there was an introduction by Mr. Michele Centrone, a city counselor from the city of Trani. Then Prof. George Vlontzos, from University of Thessaly and Scientific Coordinator of the Living Lab, gave a presentation regarding the RestPoll project and the role of Living Labs, and lastly Mr. Raffaele Cirone, president of the Italian Beekeepers Federation and Member of the Executive Board of Confagricoltura presented the role of this cooperative body to the project. In addition, took place a visit to the olive groves in the area of the Living Lab.
During the event, stakeholders were representing different scientific and societal groups, participated into a fruitful discussion to generate feedback and explore their perceptions. Some of the topics, the discussion was focused on, were about the involvement status of stakeholders in the Living Lab, debating issues among farmers and beekeepers, the pollinators’ threats related to agrochemicals, as well as the fact that government and policy makers must take into consideration the Living Lab as a tool for debating and policy development. Finally, there was willingness for continuous participation in future meetings.
