The project was presented at the 18th International Conference of the Hellenic Association of Agricultural Economists (ETAGRO 2025), held in Florina. The presentation, delivered on 11 October 2025, was titled The DIONYSUS Project: Enhancing Participatory Approaches and Integrated Solutions in the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem Nexus.
It opened with the Nexus framework and the water, energy and food pressures bearing down on Mediterranean agriculture, then narrowed to Karditsa. Much of the talk concerned method rather than results: how the Demonstration Site’s participatory Action Panel is built on Living Lab principles and a Quadruple Helix of academia, government, industry and civil society, and how World Café and SWOT techniques are used to draw out what local people actually know. It closed on early workshop findings, the co-design of a stakeholder-driven Decision Support System, and the prospect of transferring the Karditsa model to other Mediterranean regions.
